Keeping track of the number of lightning discharges intercepted by the lightning protection system

The EI 610 Lightning Strike Counter is simple to install and easy to use. It is designed to fit all kinds of down conductors including bare copper conductors as well as insulated cables. Just secure the EI 610 to the wall and insert the down conductor through the ‘D’ shape opening in the middle of the device. 

No direct electrical connection is required. It complies with IP67 and is water resistant, rust-proof and user friendly.

 

How it works

Each time a lightning pulse travels through the down conductor, the local magnetic field rises sharply and causes the EI 610 to advance by one count. It is triggered whenever it encounters more than a 1 kA impulse current in a 8/20 μs waveform. This is a hassle-free way to keep track of the number of lightning discharges that the lightning protection system intercepts.
